At Main Street Medical & Skin Centre, we perform Laser Leg Vein Treatments using the MPX Elite laser
How Does the Laser Remove Leg Veins?
A precisely focused beam of pulsed laser light, using a specific wavelength targets haemoglobin in your blood vessel. Heat from the intense light source destroys small veins, and broken capillaries, but leaves surrounding tissue unharmed. The destroyed blood and blood vessels, break down, dissolve and the body eliminates them during the healing process. Our state of the art Elite MPX Laser, offers a very neat, safe professional solution to obliterate veins. The skin tissue is smoothed out and skin tone rebuilt without any evidence of scar tissue.
Is it safe?
Yes. Laser Vein Therapy is safe and effective for all skin types and colours. While there is some mild redness and swelling after each treatment, this subsides in a few days. Even this can be speeded up with appropriate skin care products, which our nurse can recommend. There is no scarring after treatment. Although blood vessels are destroyed, the surrounding tissue is left unharmed, and your skin will look and feel better.
How Many Treatments Will I Require?
Anywhere from 1- 4 treatments are required. The number of treatments depend on your skin type, the size of the vein, and how your vessels react. The treatments are best spaced one month apart, giving time for an assessment of the effectiveness of each treatment. Smaller veins respond more quickly to treatment. Larger veins may require alternative treatments before laser therapy is effective. Again our Nurse consultation is invaluable in giving you an understanding of the effectiveness of treatment for your particular veins.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect?
We recently performed a laser vascular treatment on a female patient who is 50 years old and has had this vessel for 23 years. See below for her pleasing result after one treatment.
Will it hurt?
You will feel only a slight pricking sensation during each session.
Are there side effects?
Mild swelling and redness are common but this subsides within 48 hours.
What Other Laser Vascular Treatments Do We Offer?
Facial Redness, Rosacea, Broken Capillaries, Spider veins, telangiectasia, red coloured birthmarks, Port wine Stains, all can all be readily treated. Raised, or large veins are not treatable with laser therapy. Our Nurse consultation will provide you with a full explanation as to what can or can’t be effectively treated.
