Dermal Fillers

Many of the most noticeable signs of ageing come from the shrinking of vibrant cells deep to the skin, or the inability of our cells to maintain hydration. There are also structures that are built to maintain the taught and contoured look to our skin but slowly degrade or fall into undesirable positions over time and force the skin to become lax. The bones creating the strong base of our facial structure lose density and the muscles supporting our further layers of the dermis as they attach to bone are deteriorated and become loose. At Main Street Cosmetic & Skin, we focus on the changes that begin showing deep folds that create aesthetic concerns for our patients. We want your skin to look as good as you feel on the inside, every day. Dermal fillers are one of the ways we help you accomplish youthful rejuvenation without a facelift.

The loss of volume is the biggest factor that ages our face. However, with the latest injecting techniques and the technology, cosmetic doctors can now correct volume loss and reshape the face with long-lasting results. Dermal fillers correct fine lines, scars, and loss of volume, but can also be used to enhance lips, define the nose, chin, jawline and lift the face.

Main Street Cosmetic & Skin use a variety of fillers which last six to 18 months. All the dermal fillers used at our clinic are dissolvable meaning if you don’t like the result, we can reverse the effects. Dissolvable fillers have less risk of serious complications such as lumps and infection than permanent fillers. The dermal fillers in our clinic are all made of a product found naturally in the skin.

What are the benefits and risks?

Dermal fillers can reliably treat wrinkles at depths that other methods, such as anti-wrinkle injections cannot. Dermal fillers rarely cause any skin reactions and are a non-invasive alternative to surgical solutions.

Is it painful?

The dermal fillers that we use all have lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) mixed into them. Most people describe the treatment as only mildly uncomfortable. We also can use numbing creams and ice for your comfort.

What should I expect after my treatment?

Most people see instant results after their dermal filler treatment. Some people may get some minor swelling and bruising that generally subsides after about one week.

Can I see examples of what other people look like after having dermal filler treatment?

The pictures below are before and after photos of people who have undergone treatment with dermal fillers.

What is the alternative treatment to Dermal Filler?

The alternative treatment to dermal fillers is having a fat transfer. Fat transfer involves harvesting fat from another area of your body, such as your abdomen and re-injecting it back in the desired area. This treatment is a more complicated surgical procedure, with more risks and downtime. Fat transfers are also significantly more expensive than dermal filler treatment because they require liposuction in a surgical setting.

What dermal fillers don’t do:

Dermal fillers do not create the same result as a surgical face, eye or brow lift, which may be the best option for some patients. Dermal fillers do, however, delay the time in which surgical intervention is the best option.

How long do dermal fillers last and how many syringes do I need?
